Cost per Lead Calculator

See what a paying customer really costs you, and the most you can afford per lead.

Cost per lead is ad spend divided by leads. Cost per customer is ad spend divided by the people who actually paid. The gap between the two is your booking, show and close rate, and it decides whether your ads make money. Built for clinics, law firms, education, services and any business that sells after an enquiry.

How the calculator works

The funnel. Leads × booking rate = bookings. Bookings × show rate = shows. Shows × close rate = paying customers. Every cost is ad spend divided by the count at that stage.

Customer value. First purchase value × purchases in 12 months × gross margin = 12-month gross profit per customer. We use gross profit, not revenue, because revenue does not pay for ads, profit does.

Max affordable cost per lead = 12-month gross profit per customer × the share of leads that become customers. Pay more than this per lead and the ads lose money even over a full year.

The lever most businesses miss is not the ads. Answering leads within minutes, reminding bookings and following up on no-shows often moves cost per customer more than any bid change. For Levels Clinic in Kuwait we delivered 220% more appointments at a 40% lower cost per acquisition. See more in our case studies, and for clinics read our clinic advertising page.

FAQ

Common questions

How do you calculate cost per lead?

Cost per lead = ad spend / number of leads in the same period. If you spent AED 12,000 last month and received 80 enquiries, your cost per lead is AED 150.

What is the difference between cost per lead and cost per customer?

Cost per lead counts every enquiry. Cost per customer (customer acquisition cost) counts only the people who paid. Cost per customer = ad spend / paying customers, which is the same as cost per lead divided by the share of leads that become customers.

What is a good cost per lead in Dubai or Riyadh?

It depends on what a customer is worth to you. A clinic whose treatment plans are worth thousands can afford a far higher cost per lead than a restaurant. The useful question is the maximum cost per lead you can afford, which this calculator works out from your own close rate and customer value.

Why do cheap leads sometimes cost more?

Because cheap leads often book less, show up less and buy less. A campaign with a lower cost per lead can have a higher cost per customer. Judge campaigns on cost per customer and revenue, not cost per lead alone.

What should I track to use this properly?

Four counts per month: leads, booked appointments or calls, shows (people who turned up or answered), and paying customers. A CRM or even a shared sheet is enough, as long as every lead is marked with the campaign it came from.

Does the calculator include agency fees?

Enter ad spend only to see media efficiency. To see the full cost, add your monthly agency or staff cost to the ad spend figure.
